The Federal seat of Grayndler has been held by the Labor party since its inception in 1949. A traditionally working class area, gentrification has seen the rise in more yuppie-skewed politics in recent years. The more liberal residents have caused a rise in the Greens votership, while conservatives made their mark when they elected the first Liberal council member last year.
Since 1996, the federal seat has been held by inner-west legend and lifetime Souths supporter, Anthony Albanese.
