The Federal seat of Graynlder has been held by the Labor party since it’s inception in 1949. A traditionally working class area, gentrification has seen the rise in more yuppie skewed politics in recent years. The more liberal residents have cause a rise in the Greens votership, while conservatives have made their mark when they elected the first Liberal council member last year.

Since 1996 the federal seat has been it has been held by inner-west legend and lifetime Souths support Anthony Albanese.
